CLUB has automatic substitutions. This is how they work:
- If a player in the starting team does not play, they are eligible to be subbed out;
- Substitutions will be done on a position-for-position basis i.e.: a defender can only be subbed for another defender;
- A substitution will happen once a player's non-appearance in a match is confirmed, providing there is an eligible player on the bench to replace him;
- If there are multiple players of the same position on the bench, the replacement player is determined by whoever is placed furthest left on the squad screen (shown as highest up on the lineup screen);
- A completed substitution is shown by two green arrows on the lineup screen. This means that their points have been counted in the overall score.
For example: If a defender doesn't play and there are two defenders on the bench in positions 2 and 4, the defender in position 2 will take priority if they have played already or if their match has not yet started. However, if this player also fails to play, the substitution will move to the next in line i.e.: the defender in position 4. If no substitutes are eligible to be subbed in (because they haven't scored points or the positions don't match) no substitution will occur.
